The World Fashion Week® and World Fashion Exhibition® China 2024 honored Bolivian actress and philanthropist Carla Ortiz with a Lifetime Achievement Award during this year’s event in Shanghai from September 27th to 30th, 2024.
Recognized for her contributions to the entertainment industry and humanitarian causes, Ortiz has earned international acclaim as a performer and a tireless advocate for social and environmental issues.
Born in Cochabamba, Bolivia, Carla Ortiz embarked on a remarkable career as a model at the age of 13.
After studying Performing Arts in the United States, she rose to prominence in Mexican telenovelas such as Gotita de Amor, Mujeres Engañadas, and Secreto de Amor. Her talent and charisma eventually brought her to Los Angeles, where she furthered her acting career with roles in popular television series such as Baywatch, CSI: Miami, and Without a Trace.

Beyond her entertainment success, Ortiz is known for her philanthropic endeavors. Passionate about causes such as education, ecology, and humanitarian aid, she co-founded multiple altruistic organizations. In 2011, she established the Carla Ortiz Foundation to provide relief to victims of natural disasters in Bolivia, which earned her the country’s highest decoration, the Gold Medal of Congress.
In addition to her humanitarian work in Bolivia, Ortiz has garnered international recognition, including an act drafted by the United States Congress to honor her philanthropic contributions and the positive societal impact of her film work.
